Foreordination

If left to Nature, life moves apace

Regardless of what tests it face

No time for talk or brisk debate

To ponder what may be its fate

But we that think us superhuman

Instinctive thoughts, we do eschew them

With bulging brain and thickset skull

We charge ahead like rushing bull

So confident in our decisions

No matter if they bring division

For narrow is the path of pride

Requires us to push aside

In hot pursuit of renown and glory

Despite our lowly history

Regardless of our great advancement

Of such incredible enhancement

The ancient plagues do haunt us still

Defeat them yet? I doubt we will

Persist, we do, no other way -

Our lot to live another day…
