Swing Away

An amusement worth trying

It’s the closest to flying

With legs and arms pumping

It sends our hearts thumping

When young, it’s a thrill

Now I’m over the hill

And unduly cautious

And prone to be nauseous

Yet given the chance

Across sand I dance

And grab nearest swing

To fly without wings

I might look quite silly

With my slip showing frilly

My knees crack and pop

Once started I can’t stop!

But soon my head aches

Yikes! It comes with no brakes!

I’ll drag feet until

I am dizzy, but still…

There's a child that's inside

That says YES! to each ride

And I'll stay ever young

Till the last swing has swung!
