The Long Weekend

The long weekend is upon us

Stretch and loll about the house

Or catch a movie with a friend

Spring clean though some might grouse

Stay up late on Sunday night

With alarm clock out of reach

Visit lakeside cottages

Build bonfires on the beach

Some might work the weekend

But that's just what they must do

I do hope that much later they

Will get some downtime too

Me, myself, I’ll settle in

Upon the couch I’ll lounge

If I eat all snacks I’ve bought

Don’t worry, I can scrounge!

A three day weekend's magical

A treat looked forward to
