The World, Sublime

Writer: Theresa BaxterTheresa Baxter

May the day that lies before us

Be full of moments meant to nourish

Both our soul and hearts with love

Yet prompt us not to hold above

The needs of others, selfish wants

Temper tendency to flaunt

It matters not what things we own

Keep focus clear and desires known

So that we revel in the presence

Of what distills down to its essence

When kin co-mingle, friends will gather

Enjoying company of others

What blessings this time of the year

Can bring to those both far and near

If we can set aside resentments

Instead rest easy in contentment

As world presents itself sublime

And grants us calmness in good time…
